As an interdisciplinary clinic, UQ Healthy Living can help to improve not only your physical health, but also your mental health and well-being. The mind-body connection can help you to build resilience and age well. Our psychology service can work with your team of allied health clinicians, taking a holistic approach to provide you with individualised care.
Therapy can assist with issues such as anxiety, depression, sleep issues, chronic pain, grief and loss, caregiving issues, significant life transitions, managing health-related behaviours, stress, and developing positive wellbeing behaviours using approaches such as CBT and mindfulness.
Psychology services at UQ Healthy Living are offered by provisional psychologists who are currently undertaking advanced postgraduate studies in psychology. As they are in the final stages of training, provisional psychologists work closely with registered supervisors to ensure high-quality care while offering services to the community.
It is important to note that we do not provide services for the issues in the dot points below. We recommend consulting your local doctor or other suitable health professionals for more appropriate referral options, to avoid unnecessary delays in obtaining appropriate assistance for your needs:
- Walk-in, crisis, or emergency services
- Medicolegal, worker’s compensation, family court, or other legal matters
- Criminal-related behaviours or concerns
- High risk of suicidality or self-harm
- High risk of violence to self or others
- Current psychotic behaviours
- Issues requiring long-term treatment options. As our training clinicians are on rotation from March to December only, we focus on providing short-term therapy designed to assist clients address their immediate concerns.
